Pottery doesn't end at the wheel. We're here to help you choose glazes, answer questions, and guide your work through the firing process. Make pottery. We'll help with the rest.
Clay Made Simple
Choose from our selection of Laguna mid-fire clay bodies, all tested and approved for use in our studio. We are taking a modern approach to pricing with clay costing $39 for a 25lb bag and includes firing fees, so there's no kiln math and no extra fee surprises at the end of the month. To keep our glazes, kilns, and community projects firing safely and consistently, all clay must be purchased through Kiki Clay Club. We've done the testing so you can focus on the fun part—making pottery.
Curated Studio Glazes
Included in your membership you get to explore our collection of rotating underglazes and dipping glazes, carefully selected to work beautifully with our clay bodies and firing process. With a dozen or more glaze options available at any given time, you'll have plenty of opportunities to experiment, discover new favorites, and create pieces that are uniquely your own. You can also bring your own commercial cone 5 glazes, just get approval from the club host to ensure the glaze is compatible in our studio.
Shared Tools, Shared Inspriation
Kiki's community tool collection is stocked with the essentials for both wheel throwing and hand building, including molds, ribs, trimming tools, texture tools, bats, and plenty of creative extras. Explore, experiment, and try new techniques without having to buy every tool yourself. Sometimes the perfect tool—and your next great idea—is already waiting on the shelf.
Monthly Challenges
Every month brings a new excuse to get creative. One month we might be searching for the studio's best mug. The next, the biggest bowl. Along the way we'll celebrate Modernism Week, Pride, spooky season, the holidays, and whatever else inspires our community.
There are no grades and no pressure—just fun prompts, creative challenges, and plenty of opportunities to cheer each other on. Because sometimes the best way to grow as an artist is to make something you never would have made on your own.
Share Your Work with the Community
Kiki is proud to be part of the Perez Art District, giving members opportunities to take their creativity beyond the studio walls. Display a piece in our gallery, participate in district art walks and special events, meet fellow artists, and even offer selected work for sale. Participation is always optional, but the opportunity is there whenever you're ready. Some members join to make pottery. Others discover they love sharing it. We make room for both.
Your Own Little Place in the Studio
Casual and Obsessed members get their own shelf space. This will become your home base at Kiki. Store works in progress, personal tools, and supplies between visits so you can pick up right where you left off.
Casual members receive a half shelf, and Obsessed members receive a full shelf for bigger projects.
Monthly Member Kiki
Every month, members gather to celebrate recent creations, share ideas, discuss the future of the studio, and connect with one another.
Part show-and-tell, part community meeting, and part social hour, the Monthly Kiki helps keep our club creative, connected, and member-driven.

Our scheduled studio sessions are a great way to learn from other members & special guests (or for you to share your own knowledge). From fun pottery challenges to creative demos to learning new techniques, the studio sessions help us engage with each other and keep everyone learning.

About the Studio
Where are you located?
The Kiki Clay Club is hosted by Mud & Wick Ceramics. Central to downtown Cathedral City, you'll find us in the Perez Arts District "Makers Row" building A just minutes from Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert.
Technically speaking...
We are a mid-fire (Cone 5/6) studio with an electric kiln (oxidation).
Who's the club for?
Our mission is to provide a welcoming, creative space for LGBTQ+ folks and our friends. We welcome potters of all skill levels, all ages (over 18) and backgrounds who abide by our code of conduct. From beginners to advanced potters, you'll be able to find your creative rhythm here.

Studio Equipment
We have a large state of the art electric kiln from Skutt model 1027-3 affectionately called R2. Our kiln is approximately 23" wide and 27" tall allowing us to accommodate some pretty big pieces of work.
We have 7 Speedball Clay Boss wheels that can be reserved by members. These wheels can accomodate up to 100lbs of clay. The direction of the wheel head can be reversed by simply rotating the motor cord 180 degrees.
Our Shimpo SR-3050 Heavy-Duty Slab Roller uses a two roller system and can produce slabs up to 3" thick, up to about 30" wide and the table is 50" long.
We also have a portable Shimpo SRM 1624 that also uses a two roller system and can produce slabs up to 1" thick and about 16" wide.
Playing with mud starts with wedging your clay. We have a large wedging table with two sides. One for light color clays and the other for dark.
The surface is made from hardee board and will wick moisture out of the clay very quickly.
Hand builders rejoice! We have a Scott Creek 4" extruder and 24 piece die set to simplify making coils and all sorts of extruded shapes. We also have a hand-held extruder for when you want a quick coil or a set of consistent handles.
We stock a variety of throwing tools for our members to use. Feel free to bring your own tools, but rest assured we have a great collection you can use when you are here!
We have a variety of forms and hand building tools for our club members to use. We will continue to add to our collection as we learn what our folks need.
Glazing and decorating is really where the fun is with pottery. We have a collection of tools to help you get the job done and to explore your creativity. We will continue to add innovative glazing tools over time!
Our aim is to recycle as much clay as possible. This includes the clay we wash off our our tools and spash pans. We have two self contained clean-up sinks to help us capture this clay.
We ask artists to not wash tools/splashpans/muddy hands or dump clay bucket water into the plumbed sinks.
