Clay-day Play-day Workshop $75

Wondering what all the fuss is about? This beginner-friendly workshop is the perfect way to try pottery without committing to a full class series.

Over the course of two fun, hands-on hours, you'll learn the basics of wheel throwing in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. We'll start with a quick introduction to studio safety and how clay moves on the wheel, then it's time to get your hands dirty.

Don't worry if your creation comes out a little wonky—every potter starts somewhere, and half the fun is discovering just how challenging (and addictive) clay can be.

By the end of the workshop, you should know whether pottery is your next creative obsession. Our aim in this session is to get your familiar with clay and basics of throwing. At the end of the workshop, if you have a piece you would like to keep we will finish it, glaze it and fire it for you. It takes about 2 weeks to complete.

Class size is limited to 6 students. BONUS: You'll get a $25 discount to use for the Intro to Wheel Throwing class.

Warning: Side effects may include talking about clay constantly and wanting to come back next week.

4 Week Intro to Wheel Throwing $225

Are you ready to begin the journey into making ceramics on the wheel? This four week class will introduce you to the end to end process from wet clay to kiln and prepare you for membership.  Class size is limited to 6 students.

Week 1 - Learn studio policies and procedures. Get familiar with the equipment, and prepare to take off. We'll start with the basics of centering, opening/widening, pulling and shaping. We'll focus on making a simple form like a cup or a small vase. Don't expect to keep anything you make this week as it's all experimentation.

Week 2 - We start week 2 repeating most of what we did in week one to help you build confidence. We'll extend our learning to making bowls too. Each student will make at least two pieces that we will let partiall dry so we can use them next week.

Week 3 - This week is all about "leather hard' clay and learning the basics of trimming and carving. Our goal is to have at least one piece that we can bisque fire before the next class.

Week 4 - In the fourth week we'll discuss surface decorations with underglazes as well as the basics of glazing. You'll work on the pieces that were bisque fired and get them ready for final firing. Completed pieces are ready within 2 weeks for pickup.

Students also get 4 hours of reservable time at the Kiki Clay Club to come in outside of class to practice and meet other members.

If you are a beginner, once you have completed all four classes, and with instructor approval, you are ready to sign up for your Kiki Clay Club membership!
